What’s New? Country Weddings!

More and more we see brides opting for a country wedding and while venues with the country settings have been popular for some time, a recent trend of photos with brides wearing cowgirl booths with their wedding dress has amped up the interest in the country theme. With California’s central valley being home to thousands of horse lovers and rodeo enthusiast, there are couples who want to include that part of their lives when planning their wedding. With California’s fair climate, the outdoor wedding is popular and many businesses are gearing up with ways to assist the bride in creating a fantastic country themed wedding. New venues with large barns and wide open areas such as My Country Weddings of Vacaville are popping up in the hills surrounding the Sacramento Valley.

Holly and Michael Carlson of Rustic Rentals are on an endless search for vintage items, from wagon wheels and chippy white weathered benches to leather strapped vintage luggage and painted flower tins for that casual country ambiance. Below is a picture of one of their vignettes where a bride and groom to be can be photographed in their wedding attire. Rustic Rentals will display some of their vintage and country rental items at the upcoming Folsom Bridal Show.

Also showing their country rentals at the bridal show, Celebrations! of Roseville will display a wine barrel bar (see below). Celebration! is a perfect connection for tent rentals for the outdoor wedding.

A custom wine label business, apply named Its Personal, can provide country theme labels. Recently, they labeled magnum wine bottles with a photo of the wedding couple riding away on horseback. Its Personal has a vintage look label that is perfect for a photo of the bride and groom in there country gear.  Combine the Rustic Rental vignette photo setting with this label and you have something very memorable for a country wedding. Serve the wine from a Celebration! wine barrel bar and the picture is complete.

The wedding planners are aware of the country wedding trend and are gearing up with ideas that are sure to please the bride. Gingham ribbon, baskets, vintage table clothes and vintage carts top the list of supplies they can offer brides. Katy Baker of Adagio Wedding and Events will run a hands-on discovery booth at the Folsom Bridal Show giving brides a chance to play with colors and try their hand at creating table looks for their reception.

Even the wedding officiates can meet the needs of a country themes according to husband and wife team at Loving Ceremonies. You will find this couple at the gazebo at the April 28th, 2013 bridal show.

The choices could not be better for food for a country theme wedding. Texas West BBQ has the perfect menu with their hot links and pulled port trays. Caterers A Taste to Dine For and Two Moms Catering have the skills to create a beautiful buffet of salads, macaroni, chicken and of course meatballs in BBQ sauce to please your reception guests. The final touch after you have chosen your décor and food is the entertainment. World class wedding musician, Michael Sean Miller, will be at the bridal show to showcase his wedding music and classical and flamenco skills at the outdoor reception site.

Brides can find hi-low dresses at Haven Bridal Mart that will show off their Cowgirl boots and Tuxedo Den carries 3 styles of tuxedos with that Cowboy look. Yee Haw! Take it all the way for a wedding that your family and friends will remember forever. To find out more about these vendors, please check out our Wedding Services Links page on this site.

Advice for the Bride attending a bridal show

Being prepared means a better day of wedding planning.

_Choose a show that provides lots of close parking. You want your wedding planning to be fun and stress free by not having to drive around in traffic trying to find parking. Our Folsom Bridal Shows at Lake Natoma Inn always have plenty of close free parking.

_Wear comfortable shoes and leave coats in the car. You will be doing quite a bit of walking and standing. We provide chairs during the fashion show and to make your booth surfing experience the best, we provide water stations, convenient bathrooms, a handy bride bag in which to put stuff you collect, a program that shows where to find exhibitors and MC announcements to let you know when activities start.

_Check in at the show can take some time if lots of brides show up before the opening time and that happens a lot. Peace Productions Bridal Shows has registration forms on clipboards so you can get started if you must wait in a line and we provide a special table for brides that preregister online so they won't have to fill out information a second time. Be sure to go to the At The Show page on this web site to know what to do at the show.

_ Bring people whose opinion you value and bring someone you have fun with. You may find you also need to bring someone older who has a financial interest. If so, be considerate by providing them with water or finding an empty chair for them to rest on. Advise them to wear comfortable shoes and bring a light sweater. At the Folsom Bridal Show, there will be plenty of seating in the courtyard where people can sit and discuss important decisions or just rest. In the spring, we often have music in the courtyard and of course a water station. Bathrooms are conveniently located close by.

_The bridal show should provide a Brides Bag in which to put cards, magazines and brochures. You may want to carry an envelope to put special cards in that you want to find easily.

_ The program often gets stuck in the Bride's Bag and forgotten but it can be very useful in planning the way you will move about the show and should have an exhibitor map in it. Peace Productions has a listing for each exhibitor in the program along with contact info so if you need to find them later the program makes a great directory.

_ Check the schedule in the program for fashion show times and if you have a "smart" phone, you may want to calendar it with a reminder that will go off before the fashion show. We have announcers in each room to let you know just before the fashion shows start.

_Take a pen and small note pad (or use your iphone) for notes. Peace Productions provides a convenient and attractive card on which for you to write down your favorite photographers, djs, caterers, etc.

_Bring your date book so you can compare open dates with wedding professional for consultations. We also encourage all of our exhibitors to bring their date books too. What is more frustrating than having someone say “I will have to call and let you know if we have an opening on your wedding day?"

_Bring a list of questions you may want to ask the different wedding professionals. In case you forget, we will include a list of questions we think you should ask on the back of the card we provide for you to write down your favorites on.

_ Some of our vendors will be running their own prize giveaways and having stickers printed with your info on it will save you a lot of time filling out forms to enter those drawings. If you would like us to print out stickers for you, just email me at Peaceproductions@rocketmail.comwith your name, email address, home address, phone number, wedding date and location. This is what most exhibitors ask for on their prize forms and if you have the labels prepared you can just peel and stick them on the form.

_ Be considerate of those attending the booths. They want your business and will try very hard to give you what you ask for. Be sure to tell them about any special needs such as a long stair way to the ceremony site. A dj can be exhausted if he has to carry heavy speakers up stairs and it is only fair to let him know from the start. The same is true for any wedding professional that has heavy equipment to carry to the site.

_If you want a good deal, be sure to ask an exhibitor if they are offering a "day of the show" discount. Many are prepared to offer a special or throw in some other services. Don't be afraid to ask for something extra if it is not offered.

_ To be sure you are in on the prize drawings, make sure your ticket stubs are placed in the correct box. We have more prizes for brides and therefore we do a special drawing for the door prizes and often break the bride prize drawing up into 2 parts. One during each fashion show. The drawing times should be in your program.

_ Always remember thank the exhibitor when through talking to them. It will make their day better and leave them wanting to offer you the best they have at your wedding.
